Horseback Riding
The Horseback Riding Group within Sundance is currently without team captains. (Although Sundance members can still lead horseback riding outings.) We are eagerly seeking two (2) team captains to lead this group If you are a member, why not try leading a horseback riding outing.
If you’re the man or woman for the job of team captain for this group, please let Sundance's Outings Director know by e-mailing outings@sundanceoutdoor.org.
The Sundance Horseback Riding team has traditionally sponsored 4-5 horseback riding outings per year. These events typically run from about 10 am to 5 pm, and sometimes include a communal dinner at a local diner or restaurant. Most horseback riding outings have operated through the Jamaica Bay Riding Academy, located near the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.
The Jamaica Bay Riding Academy, with its three miles of trails along Jamaica Bay, is a favorite place for horseback riding. Rides using this site ride at a comfortable pace, both for novices and for more experienced riders. Group or individual riding lessons are usually available. There has been great camaraderie among our horseback riders.
After each ride we gather for a meal, aching but happy, recalling when we were one with our horses. New friendships are made and old ones are strengthened. ~ For more Horseback Riding info or questions, feel free to contact us at: horsebackriding@sundanceoutdoor.org
