EVENT DETAILS

Starting from the terminus of the #1 line in the Bronx, we’ll take a short hike up into the northern section of Van Cortlandt Park, checking out the stables and the Van Cortlandt family vault.  Should be a good time to see migratory bird species.

After that we’ll walk over to Wave Hill thru the opulent Fieldstone neighborhood in the Bronx, very beautiful in its own right. Wave Hill is a late 19th Century estate with terrific and amazingly pristine views of the Palisades, and is set in a series of thoughtfully laid out gardens and plantings of trees and shrubs from around the world, it’s a must see in spring time, particularly.

Lunch at the café overlooking the gardens and river, afterwards walk thru the grounds or just rest easy in a chair and take in the sights. Return to the #1 station at 242nd Street by 5:00.
