EasternbluebirdB9.jpgStarting at the MetroNorth Appalachian Trail stop just north of Pawling, this hike will follow the AT as it heads east through a patchwork series of open fields and forest.

After approximately four miles, the trail ascends a small if steep ridge with a set of ledges that overlook the surrounding area looking north towards the Taconic and Berkshire ranges.

We’ll return via the way we came, but it’s pretty enough so you won’t feel bored by it. Great hike in the spring; for some reason, the area around the train station is packed with various kinds of interesting and colorful species such as bluebirds, orioles, warblers, and grosbeaks.
