Pleasant spring hike, not overly demanding, with great views of the Tappan Zee and surrounding areas.

The summit of Hook Mountain is a good place to see hawks and the occasional eagle. The mountaintop view is simply lovely, overlooking the Hudson, and providing visibility for miles around. The trail follows through woods and open areas with a number of spring wildflowers and prickly pear cactus .

The return to Nyack is along the Hudson River (entirely flat walk), then turns onto Broadway with its series of mansions and old houses from the 1920s. We have the option to have a snack or dinner in Nyack for those interested.
