JAMAICA BAY WILDLIFE REFUGE BIRD WALK - JOINT OUTING WITH THE NATURAL HISTORY GROUP.

    Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:30 AM

    Jamaica Bay Refuge.JPG

This outing to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens is a joint effort between Sundance and the Natural History Group. It is an easy hike along flat trails.

Part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, the refuge is easily accessible by subway. April is a good month to be at the refuge as the insect population is low, and there are likely to be early Spring migrants such as hawks and ducks (which will be in their full breeding plumage.)

While this excursion focuses on birds, it is also an opportunity to spend a few hours away from the urban city environment.
